Key Player
Luke Brooks – Brooks had a stellar 2018 season, almost winning the Dally M Medal. He will be key to the Tigers’ top eight homes in 2019.
One to Watch
Esan Marsters – The young centre is a beast. He breaks tackles, has a killer offload, and is a solid goal kicker.
Rising Star
Alex Twal – Twal was a standout at junior representative level for the Junior Kangaroos and NSW U20’s side, and was superb for Lebanon at the 2017 World Cup. His impact off the bench is huge.
Predicted Top Try Scorer
David Nofoaluma (14)
Goal Kickers
1. Esan Marsters, 2. Moses Mbye, 3. Benji Marhsall.
SuperCoach
The Guns
Esan Marsters ($558,500 | CTW) – Marsters is one of the best CTW options in SuperCoach. His base is huge (33 PPG), he accumulates heaps of evasive points (17 PP) and he kicks goals. If he can add a few more tries to his game (only three in 2018), he could be a 70+ averaging CTW.
The PODs
David Nofoaluma ($483,500 | CTW) – Nofo is a former gun of SuperCoach, but didn’t enjoy the greatest 2018 season. He averaged 30 PPG in base, with a high base score of 46, and earned an average of 18 evasive PPG. Like Marsters, if he can score more tries in 2019 (only six in 2018), his average should increase.
Matt Eisenhuth ($505,700 | 2RF/FRF) – Eisenhuth averaged 58 PPG as a starting lock last season. Due to his high work rate, his PPM is near 1.0, so if he can earn a start at lock, or play around 55-60 minutes per game, he could be a sneaky but safe option.
The Cheapies
Paul Momirovski ($238,600 | CTW) – The new recruit scored 51 points on his NRL debut for the Roosters last season, and is a quality player. A couple of weeks ago, the news was that Momirovski was leading the race for the starting left centre spot. However, with the signing of Robert Jennings, who Michael Maguire fielded at left centre for South Sydney, Momirovski may be pushed out of the side.
Luke Garner ($265,100 | 2RF) – With Chris Lawrence out injured, Garner has been given first crack to replace him in the back row. If he impresses in the trial against the Warriors, he could earn a bit of cash.
Avoid
Ryan Matterson ($521,500 | 2RF) – Matterson will still score well, as he averaged 52 base PPG as an 80 minute back rower last season. However, at that price and losing his dual positioning, he is an avoid for now.
Mahe Fonua ($483,800 | CTW) – Fonua almost certainly will not be in Tigers starting 17 come round 1.
