*If de Belin is stood down, Korbin Sims could start at lock, with Jeremy Latimore coming onto the bench. Blake Lawrie and Tyson Frizell would also be options to wear the #13.

Key Player

Gareth Widdop – As captain and the side’s most creative player, Widdop will be key to the Dragons’ top eight hopes this season.

One to Watch

Corey Norman – Norman is an extremely talented player with great flair.

Rising Star

Zac Lomax – After his sublime end to the 2018 season, it is clear that Zac Lomax is a future representative player.

Predicted Top Try Scorer

Jordan Pereira (14)

Goal Kickers

1. Gareth Widdop, 2. Zac Lomax, 3. Ben Hunt.

SuperCoach

The Guns

Cam McInnes ($561,800 | HOK) – McInnes is never a hugely owned SuperCoach player, but he is a very good option, scoring over 50 points in 75% of his matches last season, and 60+ points in 46% of games.

Gareth Widdop ($553,400 | 5/8/FLB) – Due to the Dragon’s tendency to take penalty goals whenever they get the opportunity, Widdop’s base is pretty much around 40. He has a huge upside and when you get on him at the right time, expect your rank to shoot up. Moreover, Widdop usually comes out of the blocks fast to start the season, having a three round average of 71.7 to start 2017, and a three round average of 114.3 to start 2018.

The PODs

Paul Vaughan ($493,000 | FRF) – Vaughan had a career best year in 2017, scoring eight tries and averaging 68 PPG. He fell back to Earth in 2018, averaging 53 PPG (55 PPG if you take out his injury affected 10 in round 21). With Vaughan, you know what you’re going to get if he doesn't register an attacking stat – a consistent 45-60 PPG depending on minutes. It's worth noting that he was excellent in the trial game against the Knights, and may see an increase in minutes if de Belin is stood down.

The Cheapies

Zac Lomax ($196,900 | CTW) – For nearly bottom dollar, Zac Lomax should be in 100% of teams.

Avoid

Jack De Belin ($516,300 | 2RF) – After two 60+ PPG seasons, De Belin’s minutes per game dropped by nearly 10 last season, seeing his overall average drop to 55 PPG. It’s hard to see his minutes increase this season, and in fact, he may not even be playing after getting himself into strife in the off-season.

Tim Lafai ($419,500 | CTW) – Tim Lafai is one of my least favourite SuperCoach players of all time. When he doesn’t average over 60 in a season, he averages less than 45. The guy is a troll. Who knows though, he’ll probably average 65 this season!
