NRL SuperCoach - POD Central

Updated: Mar 8, 2019

Matt Moylan | $483,500 | FLB/5/8 | 13% Own

When playing at fullback, Matty Moylan is a proven gun, averaging 61 and 63 PPG in his last two full seasons wearing the #1, and then 62 PPG in the ten matches he played there in 2017. From 2015-2018, Moylan has provided 56 try assists and scored 16 tries in 74 games – that equates to almost one try or try assist per game. With a move back to the #1 jersey on the cards, Moylan will gain greater freedom without having to worry as much about defence as last season, boosting his SuperCoach potential. He looked very sharp in the Sharks’ trial against the Knights, where he scored an estimated 42 SuperCoach points in 35 minutes.

Dylan Edwards | $473,700 | FLB | 2% Own

Dylan Edwards comes into the 2019 season as the 16th highest priced fullback in SuperCoach. Priced at $473,700, Edwards is hugely under priced when you consider his history and what he is capable of. Over his first two seasons in the NRL, Edwards has averaged 33 and 30 pure base PPG, which is higher than the likes of James Tedesco and Tom Trbojevic. Edwards’ evasive stats are also excellent, recording 20 evasive PPG in 2017, and 15 evasive PPG in 2018. This largely comes down to his tackle busting exploits, averaging six tackle breaks per game over the last two seasons. As the best support player in the NRL, averaging 29 support runs per game last season, Edwards always gets himself into great attacking positions. Given the Panthers’ highly favourable fixture list to start the season, expect Edwards to be amongst the points early. In fact, here’s a big call – Edwards will average 62+ PPG this season.

Josh Dugan | $497,400 | FLB/CTW | 1% Own

Josh Dugan is perennially overlooked in SuperCoach, but he’s a far better option than he’s given credit for. This season, Dugan is expected to line up in the centres for the Sharks. Over the last two seasons, Dugan has played eight games at centre for an average of 63 PPG. During this period, he has scored 28 PPG in base and 19 PPG in evasion, as well as scoring three tries and providing five try assists. Interestingly, Dugan has only failed to register an attacking statistic (try/try assist) once in his past eight games at centre, but he still scored 54 points in this game. With a favourable start to the year, facing the Knights, Titans, Cowboys and Eels in the first four weeks, Dugan could score well and appreciate in value early in the season.

Daly Cherry-Evans | $577,400 | HFB | 7% Own

Over the past two seasons, DCE has scored 70+ points in 35.4% of his games, and 50+ points in 64.6% of his games. However, since taking up the goal kicking duties at the Sea Eagles, DCE’s 50+ percentage increased to 75%. Moreover, when he didn’t score 70+ last season, DCE still managed to average 48.1 PPG. Those stats make for pretty good reading.

Angus Crichton | $646,900 | 2RF | 13% Own

Just like last season, Crichton is a gun but enters the year as a POD. What’s not to like though? Over the past two seasons, when Crichton plays 70+ minutes he has scored 50+ points in 92% of his matches. With a base of 52 PPG, Crichton has averaged 72 PPG whenever he plays 70+ minutes. Guaranteed big minutes in the Roosters pack, Crichton’s base should stay the same this season, but running off Cooper Cronk, expect him to cross for a few more tries.

Daniel Alvaro | $515,600 | FRF | 2% Own

Alvaro has always had a superb PPM, but he never received the minutes to excel. In 2018 though, his minutes jumped by nearly ten, averaging 46 minutes per game. With a PPM of 1.2, Alvaro scored 50+ points in 69% of his starts last season. Averaging 53 PPG in pure base stats alone, all Alvaro needs is to find an offload more often or tackle break some more tackles, and he’ll average 60+ PPG.

Aiden Tolman | $471,400 | FRF | 2% Own

When starting at prop, Tolman has averaged 55 and 60 pure base PPG over the last two seasons. After working his way into the starting #8 jersey last season, Tolman went on to average 63 PPG from round 16 until the end of the season. With the Bulldogs lacking in depth at prop, Tolman is almost guaranteed to be a 60+ minute player this season. Despite scoring no attacking stats and only 16 evasive points in the final 10 rounds of last season, Tolman still rose by $127,500 with not one price drop. So, if he gets the minutes, Tolman should score you a safe 55+ points each week, and rise in price considerably.

Jake Friend | $481,500 | HOK | 5% Own

Jake Friend starts the 2019 season hugely under priced compared to previous seasons. Friend played the first half of the 2018 season injured. This impacted his minutes and influence on games, which saw his average drop extremely low compared to the 59 and 63 point averages in the two seasons prior. However, once he overcame the injury, he showcased his SuperCoach ability, reverting back to an 80 minute hooking role and averaging 68.6 PPG over the final seven rounds. If Friend is fully fit to start the 2019 season, he has keeper potential and will make you heaps of cash.
