Predicted Line Up
1. Jordan Kahu, 2. Kyle Feldt, 3. Enari Tuala, 4. Ben Hampton, 5. Nene Macdonald, 6. Jake Clifford, 7. Michael Morgan, 8. Josh McGuire, 9. Jake Granville, 10. Jordan McLean, 11. Gavin Cooper, 12. Coen Hess, 13. Jason Taumalolo. Interchange: 14. Kurt Baptise, 15. John Asiata, 16. Scott Bolton, 17. Matt Scott
Key Player
Michael Morgan – With the great JT gone, Morgan will be in charge of guiding this team to glory.
One to Watch
Coen Hess – The barnstorming forward is an absolute unit and a try scoring machine.
Rising Star
Enari Tuala – A member of both the 2019 Junior Kangaroos and Prime Minister’s XIII teams, Tuala looked like a genuine first grade star in his debut season. He can only improve in 2019.
Predicted Top Try Scorer
Nene Macdonald (16)
Goal Kickers
1. Jordan Kahu, 2. Jake Clifford, 3. Kyle Feldt.
SuperCoach
The Guns
Jason Taumalolo ($657,400 | 2RF) – With a two season average of 73, Taumalolo is a rare SuperCoach player, scoring 60+ points in 69% of his matches over the last two seasons.
Michael Morgan ($409,200 | 5/8/HFB) – Morgan was a revelation at halfback in 2017, averaging 61 PPG there. With that average and given his price and dual position, he’s almost too good to ignore.
The PODs
Ben Hampton ($360,300 | CTW/FLB) – Hampton was surprisingly good at centre last season, averaging 50 PPG there. In his seven games at centre, he scored three tries, averaged 26 PPG in base and 17.4 PPG in evasive stats.
Nene Macdonald ($451,800 | CTW) – He averaged nearly 30 base PPG and 15 evasive PPG last season, so if he can add a few more tries to his game, Macdonald could be a good pick up.
Coen Hess ($547,200 | 2RF) – Averaging around 45 base PPG, Hess isn't the most reliable 2RF. However, he has huge upside due to his attacking potential, and historically starts seasons exceptionally well. In 2017, he averaged 76.3 PPG over the opening four rounds, making over $150k, and then in 2018, he averaged 74.5 over the opening four rounds, making $120k.
The Cheapies
Jordan Kahu ($278,700 | CTW) – We had Te Maire Martin listed here, until the Cowboys poached Kahu from the Broncos. Kahu will almost certainly start at fullback this season, and will probably kick goals too. Overall, Kahu isn't a very good SuperCoach player, and I'd rank him as one of the lea. However, at that price, he's worth a look.
Avoid
Josh McGuire ($473,600 | 2RF/FRF) – With a PPM of around 1.0 most years, McGuire is pretty reliant on base points for SuperCoach. Last season his scores fell off a cliff, and this season his minutes may drop slightly with the plethora of quality forwards at the Cowboys.
