We believe that James Maddison is the top target from Leicester. However, if you can’t afford Maddison, Ayoze Pérez and Youri Tielemans are both £6.5 priced options.
It must initially be noted that Tielemans has only played 13 games in the Premier League, so his stats come from a smaller sample size.
Over Pérez’s 4 Premier League seasons, has never scored at a PPM below 0.041 or above 0.050. In contrast, Tielemans scored at 0.058 PPM in his only season in England.
Looking at return percentages, Tielemans was far more consistent than Pérez last season. Pérez returned in 29% of games. This could have been worse though, as over the first 22 GWs, Pérez only scored 2 goals and provided 1 assist. His late season form boosted this percentage. Tielemans returned in 62% of games. Yes, he only played 13 games, but Tielemans had a higher return percentage last season than Salah, Sterling and Mané.
With this said, the Spaniard had the higher upside, scoring 16 points in GW30 and 17 points in GW35. Tielemans didn’t crack double digits once.
Tielemans’ underlying stats were also better than those of Pérez last season. The Belgian had 1 shot every 35.1 minutes, and Pérez took 53.0 minutes per shot.
Although there was nothing separating the time taken per shot assist for each of these players, Tielemans created 6 big chances in 13 games last season, while Pérez took 37 games to created 7 big chances.
Thus, in the battle of the £6.5 Leicester midfielders, Tielemans wins.
